XIAOMI 12T REVIEW

Introducing Xiaomi’s latest high-end phone, the Xiaomi 12T. Boasting numerous upgrades from its predecessor, the Xiaomi 11T, this phone might just be the flagship killer of the season. Let’s take a closer look at the Xiaomi 12T in this review.

With a stunning high-end display, high-res camera, and lightning-fast charging, the 12T is a premium mid-range phone that stands out in a sea of competitors. The screen, charging, and chipset have all been upgraded from the previous model, and the design remains sleek and functional with a square camera mode and a curved matte glass back.

The 6.67-inch AMOLED display is a standout feature, with a 120Hz refresh rate and higher resolution than its predecessor at 1220p, earning it the name “crystal res screen.” The display is also brighter than the 11T, with a maximum brightness of over 500 nits on manual mode and over 950 nits on auto mode.

The phone’s 120Hz refresh rate makes for extra smooth swiping and scrolling, and the adaptive feature dials it down when idling to save energy. The under-display fingerprint scanner is fast and reliable, and the stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support delivers great sound quality with rich highs and nice vocals.

Powered by Xiaomi’s MIUI 13 interface on top of Android 12, the phone’s customized chipset, a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Ultra, is comparable to Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 series chips in benchmarks, making it a great choice for gamers.

The phone’s 108-megapixel main camera with OIS, 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and 2-megapixel macro camera produce solid-quality images with plenty of detail, lively colors, good contrast, and balanced dynamic range. However, the 2-megapixel macro camera is underwhelming, and photos shot in 108-megapixel mode have soft edges and corners.

With a large 5000mAh battery, the 12T isn’t a battery champion but still manages to earn an endurance rating of 104 hours in proprietary tests. The charging, however, is a standout feature, upgraded from 67 watts to 120 watts, allowing the phone to charge from 0 to 96% in just 30 minutes and go to full in just 23 minutes with the special boost charging mode.

Overall, the Xiaomi 12T is a premium mid-range phone with plenty of upgrades over its predecessor, making it a great choice for those who want high-end features without breaking the bank.
