We are excited to share our hands-on experience with the newest additions to Xiaomi’s smartphone lineup – the Poco F5 and Poco F5 Pro. These devices have already created a buzz among tech enthusiasts and for good reason.

Pricing and Availability
The Poco F5 and Poco F5 Pro are both available globally and offer great value for their price. The Poco F5 starts at $379 and is essentially a rebranded Redmi Note 12 Turbo, while the Poco F5 Pro starts at $449 and is similar to the Redmi K60.
Although these are rebranded versions of Redmi devices, the Poco models have received a full global release, unlike their Chinese counterparts. Overall, both phones are competitively priced and offer excellent features for their respective price points.
Design and build quality
It is worth noting that the Poco F5 and Poco F5 Pro are new smartphones that bear some resemblance to the Redmi Note 12 Turbo and Redmi K60, respectively. Although they are rebranded versions, they come in different colorways and have unique designs.
The F5 comes in a white gradient finish with an interesting pattern underneath, while the F5 Pro has a glossy black finish with striped accents on the sides.
The camera designs on both phones differ as well, with the F5 featuring individual circles for each camera, while the F5 Pro has a unified island. It is amusing to note that both phones have the same cameras. Additionally, both Pocos come with an IP53 Ingress Protection rating, which is typical of Xiaomi’s mid-range phones these days.
System Interface
In addition to the latest MIUI 14 user interface, the Poco F5 and F5 Pro come with a customized version specifically designed for the Poco series, known as Poco Launcher. This launcher offers a variety of customization options, such as app drawer organization and a dark mode.
The Poco Launcher also supports icon packs, making it easy to personalize the look of your phone. Furthermore, both phones are eligible for MIUI updates for the foreseeable future, ensuring they remain up-to-date with the latest features and security patches. Overall, the combination of MIUI 14 and Poco Launcher provides a smooth and intuitive user experience on both devices.
Display And Fingerprint scanners
Both the Poco F5 and F5 Pro feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. However, the F5 Pro has a higher 1440p resolution compared to the 1080p resolution of the non-pro model. The Pro also has Dolby Vision support, which is not available on the regular F5, and is claimed to be brighter.
In terms of biometric authentication, the Poco F5 Pro has an under-display fingerprint reader, while the regular Poco F5 features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button. Both devices have stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, but the vanilla Poco F5 has a traditional headphone jack, which is missing on the Pro model.
Snapdragon And Battery
The Poco F5 and F5 Pro have significant differences in their chipset, with the Pro model having a flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which is expected to deliver excellent performance for heavy gaming and multitasking. On the other hand, the Poco F5 has a newer Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset, which is anticipated to provide upper mid-range performance instead of flagship-grade.
Additionally, there may be a difference in battery life as the Pro has a slightly bigger battery capacity of 5,160 milliamp-hours compared to the regular F5’s 5,000. Both phones support 67-watt wired charging, but only the Poco F5 Pro has wireless charging capability. These differences could have a significant impact on the overall performance and user experience of each device.
Cameras
Both of these devices have been designed to cater to different types of users, but when it comes to the cameras, both phones are almost identical. Featuring a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera, these devices are well-equipped to handle a wide range of shooting scenarios. However, it’s worth noting that the processing of these images may vary slightly due to differences in the chipsets used by each phone.

It’s clear that the Pro version offers some additional features that may appeal to power users, such as the higher resolution display, faster chipset, and under-display fingerprint reader.
